Volunteers Making a Difference
At OzPol Services, our volunteers play a vital role in helping older people remain connected, independent and engaged with their community. Through companionship, social support and meaningful interactions, volunteers enhance the wellbeing of older people while reducing loneliness and social isolation.
Our volunteers come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, allowing us to provide culturally appropriate support that respects each person’s language, traditions and life experiences. Every volunteer is carefully selected, screened, trained and supported to ensure they provide a safe, respectful and rewarding experience for the people they visit.
Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme
OzPol Services proudly participates in the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), an Australian Government initiative that matches trained volunteers with older people who are experiencing social isolation.
Regular visits may include:
- Friendly conversation and companionship
- Sharing a cup of tea or coffee.
- Playing cards, board games or puzzles.
- Reading books, newspapers or magazines.
- Going for a walk or enjoying the garden.
- Attending community activities together.
- Celebrating cultural traditions and special occasions.
- Video or telephone calls where face-to-face visits are not possible.
These ongoing friendships often become one of the most valued parts of an older person’s week, providing emotional support, social connection and a greater sense of belonging.
